2018 Summer Camp Dates:

    • June 18 – June 22
    • July 23 – July 27

All camps are Monday – Friday day camps. We start each day in Southaven at 10:00 am at Stars in Motion dance studio. We go to different activities all day, and end around 5pm. The activities vary with the age ranges of that particular camp week, but include team-building and leadership activities at the studio, followed by 2-3 field activities each day.

Activities

Girls of Grit camp activities are designed to develop leadership skills, promote self-confidence, encourage service in the community, foster teamwork, provide exposure to traditionally male-dominated careers, and build the fortitude required for setting (and meeting) personal challenges and goals.

Examples of these activities include spending time with women executives, going to the Child Advocacy Center, the Civil Rights Museum, and local animal shelters (community stewardship is a core value), as well as exposing the girls to activities that challenge them physically and mentally (like Zip Lining or Scuba Intro).  The whole week’s activities are designed to allow the girls to get to know each other, while working on their strengths and understanding their sense of purpose.

Most days will include two activities, and all days include pre- and post-activity discussions facilitated by leaders in the mid-south business community.

Age Requirements and Cost

Each camp class is a maximum of twelve girls (ages 13-19), cost is $139 and includes fees for all activities, transportation, and daily lunches.

  1. I would be interested in my 13 year old(now) daughter doing something like this. This sounds wonderful. Is there not anything during the school year? Please keep me on a mailing list. Thank you. Stacey Marable
